Obituary
Allena Mae Austin
July 3, 1940 – November 11, 2019
Allena Mae Austin, 79-year-old lifetime Worland resident, went home to her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2019. She had been residing at Bonnie Blue Jacket Memorial Nursing Home in Basin.
Allena was born on July 3, 1940 in Worland, the third of four children born to Willard Wesley and Nellie (Bussard) Austin. She grew up in Worland and was active in Job's Daughters, holding the office of President of the Daughters of the Nile at one time. She graduated from WHS in 1958. She learned how to upholster furniture under her father's tutelage. Following graduation, she went to work in her father's upholstery shop and learned the trade very well, continuing even through the pains of arthritis.
Allena joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in July of 1967. She poured her heart and soul into her new-found faith. Family History became an obsession for her as she was determined to find out about her ancestors and help others in finding their family members. She was very assertive in all that she did. If there was a task to be done, her attention was on that task until it was completed.
She enjoyed making things and sending donations to the Shriner's Hospital in Salt Lake. She was a member of a Coin Club and Cherished Teddies Club for many years, collecting many things that were precious to her. She also loved doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles in her spare time.
As she got older her health failed and became homebound, she relished visits from friends and her church family. Her biggest regret was that she became unable to attend church on Sunday's but was so grateful to the young men who would bring the Sacrament to her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roland and sister, Dorothy.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Ann (Chuck) Brazell of Worland and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Bishop Charlie Wassum officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Bryant Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
