Obituary
Ann Marie Hoesel
November 30, 1930 – May 20, 2026
Ann Marie Hoesel, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Worland, Wyoming on May 20, 2026 and the age of 95, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind the legacy of a long life beautifully lived.
Ann was born in New Leipzig, North Dakota on November 30,1930 to William and Marie (Buchwitz) Mueller, proud German from Russia immigrants. Being the youngest child and raised in a large, loving family, her childhood was filled with many adventures. Here she learned the strong values of faith, hard work, kindness, and resilience that would guide her throughout her life.
After graduating from Elgin High School in Elgin, ND, Ann met and married her devoted husband, Milton L. Hoesel. Together they created a beautiful family of their own by welcoming their son, Gary, and daughters, Susan and Lori. The family's journeys took them to many places across the Rocky Mountains, where Ann taught her children to love and embrace the beauty of mountain life and shared with them her love of fishing, a pastime that always gave her great joy. When life slowed down a bit, and if she couldn't be out fishing, she would more than likely be found creating one of her exquisite needlework or crocheted pieces, or maybe even enjoying a lively game of dominoes with family or friends. But mostly, she'd rather be out fishing!
One of Ann's most cherished adventures and a highlight of her life was spending a year living in Spain, an experience she would often recall with warmth and joy.
Ann's life was defined by the love she had for her family, and the profound faith she had in God. As a wife, mother, and homemaker she created a safe place of unconditional love where anyone was welcome. As a devoted member of the Lutheran church, she served the Lord and others by serving on the Worship Committee, and faithfully organized the church ushers for many years. She believed deeply in serving others, beginning in her own home.
Ann will be remembered for her loving heart, her warm hospitality, her unwavering faith, and her ability to make everyone feel valued.
Ann, the last surviving member of her immediate family, was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Mueller; husband, Milton Hoesel; brothers, Ernest Mueller, Robert Mueller, Otto Mueller, Reinhold Mueller, and Arthur Mueller; sisters Hilda Haase, Emma Weiss and Ida Fuchs.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Susan) Hoesel of Franklin, Indiana; daughters; Susan (Lee) Lockhart of Worland, Wyoming, and Lori Schaefer of Cheyenne, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, one that was born the night Ann passed away.
A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family has requested memorials be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Worland Senior Center. Checks can be mailed to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences can be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
