Arthur Cornelius Raver, 85 year old, Worland resident, died on June 3, 2009 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Tekamah, Neb., to Roscoe A. & Jessie Helen Cornelius Raver. He was raised in Craig, Neb. where he completed his schooling through the 12th Grade. He attended Jr. College at Fremont, Neb. for two years. Arthur went to George Washington University and received his degree in accounting. While in Washington, Arthur worked for the F.B.I, in their print shop. He went into the Army in 1943, and served overseas in Germany during World War II.
Arthur married Dorothy Mueller in June 1944. After he was discharged from the service they made their home in Philadelphia, PA, where he worked for Atlantic Richfield, (Arco), as an accountant for many years. They moved to Wyoming in the early 1960's to be closer to his family who had migrated also. He worked in Cody and Riverton before moving to Worland in 1967. Art worked for Ray Chapman, CPA for around 5 years and then for Dale Weaver, Inc. until he took early retirement in 1986. He was with Foster Grandparents for about 5 years and then went to work for McClellan & MacQueen, Inc., where he still worked at the time of his passing.
Art started playing Trumpet when he was nine years old. He took his lessons every week in Fremont, Neb.; his dad driving him over no matter the weather. The Trumpet and Art was a magical pair; he played all of his life back east and here in the west with diverse groups. He was with the Knights of Note for about 30 years, and has played in the Mt. Calvary Praise Team for the last 10 years. With the Knights of Note, his last performance was in Ten Sleep, the Friday before he started on his new Journey.
Arthur married into the Hubbard Clan in January, 1984 when he and Pauline Steindorf, nee Hubbard, wed.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy, his brother Frank Raver of Cody, most of the other Raver family in Nebraska, his parents-in-law, Leora and Edward E. Hubbard of Gillette, his brother-in-law, Charles Hubbard of Worland, and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Cole of Story, WY.
Arthur is survived by his wife Pauline of Worland, his daughter Karia, son-in-law Bill Dillinger and Grandchildren, Matthew, Tabitha, and Robert, all of Lexington, KY, his step son Martin, wife Kelly and Granddaughter Jennifer
