Barbara A Cornett
August 31, 1940- May 1, 2025
Barbara A. Cornett, 84, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Worland, Wyoming.
Barbara was born on August 8, 1940, in Valentine, Nebraska, to Paul James and Margaret Marie (Ladegard) Goodwin. She grew up in Kilgore, Nebraska, and graduated from Valentine High School in the late 1950s. Barbara continued her education at Chadron College, earning her degree in teaching.
After graduating, she moved to Wyoming and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Manderson. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charles Cornett. The two married on July 3, 1963, and together they raised two sons, Jerry and Michael.
While raising her family, Barbara worked as a substitute teacher at Worland High School. She had a lifelong passion for education and loved helping students learn. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and creating photo albums to capture memories. A reserved and private person, Barbara appreciated the quiet life that Wyoming offered. She was also a longtime member of Today's Homemakers.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Cami) Cornett of Greybull, Wyoming, and Michael (Celine) Cornett of Powell, Wyoming; her brothers, Robert (Mavis) Goodwin of North Platte, Nebraska, and Jack (Donna) Goodwin of Spokane, Washington, Alan McKim; brother-in-law, Claude Craft; sister-in-law, Pati McKim and her grandchildren: Angelica Rasmussen, Kyle Hoyt, Mia Cornett, and Heather Cornett.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Mount View Cemetery in Basin, Wyoming, with Pastor Aaron Gesch officiating.
