Calvin Eugene Wray

Calvin “Cal” Eugene Wray, 85 year old Worland resident passed away on March 6, 2013 at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.

Cal was born on August 7, 1927 in Esther, Missouri, as son of Calvin and Mary Alice (LaRose) Wray. He attended school in Piedmont, Missouri. At a young age he started work as a mechanic until he was of age to enlist in the Navy. He served his country during World War II. Following his discharge, he went to work for the Park services for a few years. He was then inducted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served there until the end of the war.

Later in life he met the love of his life, Bonnie King. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 21, 1977. Cal then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service, where he worked in various departments including the Recreation Dept., the Range and Timber Departments. While living in Ferron, Utah, Cal retired in 1988. The couple moved to Arizona for a couple of years as well as in the Big Horn Mountains for a few years. In 1990 they came to Worland where they have lived until the time of his death.

Cal enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, hunting and being in the outdoors. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW).

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 9 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Worland; sons: Gary Wray of Arizona City, AZ, Terry (Robbyn) Wray , Steve Wray of Casper, WY, Danny Wray of San Diego, California; daughters: Judy (Gary) Pagett of Granite City, IL, and Trudy (Nathan) Wallace of Sheridan, WY; sons; Rodney (Debbie) Barnhill of Worland, WY, Roger (BeLinda) Barnhill of Winchester, WY, daughter; Ann (Leon) Sisk of Worland, half sister, Melba Wilkerson of Imperial, MO; sister-in-law, Jeanie Wray of Dickson, MO; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Longwell officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #44.
