Obituary

Caroline Cone Hansen

January 3, 1932 – December 12, 2022

Caroline Cone Hansen, 90, died Monday December 12, 2022, at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 3, 1932, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Maurice and Janet (Prendergast) Cone. She lived in Sheridan until her father died when she was 10, then her family moved to Minnesota, where her mother eventually remarried. At the age of 15, her family moved to California, where she graduated from high school and continued her education, graduating from University of Redlands with a degree in sociology.

She met Henry (Hank) Hansen in Sheridan and they were married May 7, 1955. They moved often because of Hank's jobs with the Forest Service and BLM. They eventually settled in Worland, Wyoming, where Hank worked for the BLM and Caroline worked for attorney John Davis. They built a home in 1974 and lived there the rest of their lives, with a beautiful view of the Big Horn Mountains.

Caroline was an accomplished pianist and organist and played for the Episcopal church in Worland for many years. Recently she played for St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Basin and Grace Lutheran in Worland. She sang in the PSALM choir and participated in the local plays (most recently as the Matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof). She was a great cook and was known for bringing fresh-baked bread and cookies to her friends. When younger, she enjoyed hiking in the Big Horn Mountains. She gave freely of her time to many organizations, including Born Again Clothing and Washakie Museum.

Caroline is predeceased by husband, Hank (March 2020). Survivors include her daughter, Heidi (Mike) Kremer, of Burbank, California and brother-in-law, Arnold (Barb) Hansen, of Sheridan, Wyoming. She leaves behind many friends who will miss her spunky spirit and caring ways.

Memorial services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Basin.

Memorials may be made to Washakie Museum or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
