January 23, 1933 – June 6, 2025

Christa (Bohndorf) Ley, 92, passed away on June 6, 2025 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming.

She was born on January 23, 1933 in Lüneburg, Germany to Friedrich August and Kaethe (Keller) Bohndorf. In 1938, her parents moved to a small town, Vechte, about one hundred miles west in Germany, where she met her future husband, Ernst Adolf Ley. They lived about five houses away from each other.

In 1956 she followed her childhood sweetheart to the United States. After attending high school and then Hartford College, she worked as a payroll supervisor for a group of five hundred employees in nursing homes until she retired.

She followed her sons from the East Coast to the West and lived in Utah and Idaho Falls for a while with her youngest son. She moved to Worland in October of 2023, living with her oldest son. She was member of the Auxiliary American Legion Post 44, a member of CrossPoint Baptist Church, and the Washakie Museum.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by one sister in Germany; two sons, Frank Ley of Worland and Ralph (Margaret) Ley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. Her remains will be forwarded to Cape Cod, where her husband is buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a future date.

On behalf of the family, we wish to thank the community as a whole for bringing joy to her final years and making her feel so blessed. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
