Obituary

Cleo Ann (Montanye) Ogaard

June 3, 1931 – Feb 23, 2026

Cleo Ann Ogaard, passed away on February 23, 2026 in Worland, Wyoming at the grand age of ninety-four. Cleo was born in Spokane, Washington on June 3, 1931 to her parents Edwin George and Ida (Anderson) Montanye. Unfortunately, her father passed away when Cleo was only five years old, so she and her four siblings were raised by their wonderful mother.

Cleo graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane in 1949.

On December 5, 1953, at the age of twenty-one, she married the love of her life, dashing Airman Chester "Paul" Ogaard, Jr., on the Fairchild Air Force Base in Fairchild, Washington. A year later Cleo became a mother when she gave birth to their beloved son, Donald. The family lived wherever the service sent them, including New Hampshire, Massachusetts, California, Utah, and England. Being married to a career military man made Cleo very adaptable to new circumstances. She learned how to adjust, going with the flow, becoming a woman of resilience and confidence, being sure in her own life and in life's choices. You could count on Cleo to speak her mind, say what she meant, and be up front about her thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. You knew where you stood with Cleo, she was always genuinely herself.

After settling in Utah after Paul retired from the United States Air Force, Cleo was involved in the VFW and American Legion serving whenever possible on charitable projects. She enjoyed giving of her means, talents, and time to help others. She was a part of a women's bowling league for many years, a hobby she greatly enjoyed. Later in life, she took up golf, mostly because Paul had always played and it gave them time together, which was a rare commodity with Paul's military career.

After frequent visits to the Worland area, in October 2023, Cleo and Paul made the decision to leave Clearfield, Utah and move to Worland, Wyoming to be closer to Don and his family. Her beloved Paul passed away on June 16, 2024.

Cleo was also extremely generous to her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren whenever she could. They brought life and light to her days. She enjoyed playing card games with her family, but mostly she loved just being with them.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Barbara Baumgardner and Janet White; and her brother, Kenneth Montanye. Survivors include her son, Donald (Robyn) Ogaard of Worland, Wyoming; brother, James Montanye of Washington; grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Fraley of Laramie, Wyoming and Keith (Carrie) Ogaard of Sheridan, Wyoming and great-grandchildren, Tristan, Charlotte, Isabelle and Madeline Fraley, and Kaydence Schutt, and Cole and Connor Ogaard.

A private gathering time for family and graveside service will be held in Worland. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
