Obituary

Dale Edward Gorham

January 17, 1952- February 18, 2026

Dale Edward Gorham, 74, passed away at his home in Ten Sleep, Wyoming on February 18, 2026.

Albert Edward and Dorothy Adeline (Drew) Gorham welcomed their fourth child, Dale Edward Gorham, into their family on January 17,1952 in Lyndonville, Vermont. The children would be joined by another brother less than two years later. The family also included two foster brothers. Dale's childhood was full of mischief, laughter, animals, dancing, outdoors, chores, and cousins.

Even though Dale grew up on a Vermont hillside farm with green rolling hills and trees as far as you could see, he and his brothers were always drawn to the open spaces, mountains and buttes of the West. As little boys they spent as much time as allowed watching old westerns and new ones. Their dad joked more than once that he was going to box them up and send them out west. In later years, anyone who knew Dale could tell you about his enjoyment of Gunsmoke or any other western series, John Wayne movies, or Louie L'Amour stories of good men and better horses.

Dale was a man who enjoyed the outdoors and solitude. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for much of his adult life. Prior to moving to Wyoming, Dale was an independent logger in New England. A role he took great pride in.

Dale made his first trip to Ten Sleep as a teenager to visit his older sister and her family. After that he made the journey as often as possible to spend time with his older brother, Lee. Lee was a good brother then and throughout the rest of Dale's life. In 2005, Dale fulfilled a longtime goal: he made Ten Sleep his home.

Family was important to Dale. He tried to make the trip back to Vermont as often as possible to see his son and family. Those times riding along with Josh on his routes were always the high point of his visits.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a foster brother, Fred James.

He is survived by his son, Joshua (Bridgettte) Gorham of Brandon, Vermont; brothers, Lee Gorham of Ten Sleep and Allan (Bonnie) Gorham of Inglis, Florida; sisters, Mary (Wilder) Simpson of Lyndonville, Vermont and Emily (Ron) Gorham Keith of Sheridan, Wyoming and; a very special person, his sister-in-law, Sylvia James of Brook Hollow, Vermont and one grandchild, Jackson.
