Doris Madelene Ballman
October 28, 1937 – October 21, 2024
Doris Madelene Ballman, 86, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, Wyoming with family by her side.
Doris was born on October 28, 1937, in Jefferson City, Missouri to John and Zelda (Wooton) Dunmire.
Doris was an avid outdoors person. She loved to hunt and fish, especially at Seminoe Reservoir in Central Wyoming. One of the greatest highlights of her life was when she shot a moose! She took her moose with one shot from her beloved .308 rifle.
Family was the most important to her! She loved her children dearly, and she cherished each one of her grandchildren. Doris was the type of mother and grandmother who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. She was selfless and always thought of others before herself.
Doris' loved Wyoming and lived in several areas of the state. She spent time in Wheatland, Cheyenne, Rawlins, Lusk and she spent the last years of her life living in Basin. One of the favorite places Doris lived was at the Seminoe Boat Club, where she was caretaker with her husband Ken.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Herrington, second husband, Wilfred Kolkman, third husband, Kenneth Ballman; Stepson, Dean Kolkman; daughters-in-law, Pam Kolkman and Marlene Kolkman; grandson, Ralph Smith; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by sons, Dennis (Lori) Kolkman of Dubois, Wyoming, Wilfred (Vicki) Kolkman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Wayne Kolkman of Ft.Worth, Texas, Chris (Yvonne) Kolkman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Gene (Deb) Kolkman of Mexico; daughters, Donita (Scott) Smith of Greeley, Colorado, Lily (Lee) Clabots of St. Augustine, Florida, Jeanette Cross of Basin, Wyoming, Kathy (Paul) Wright, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on October 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM, where there will be a small service in the cemetery pavilion. A celebration of Doris' life will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
