Edward D. Apland, 77 year old, Worland resident, died at Washakie Medical Center on May 11, 2006.

Ed was born in Lander, Wyoming to Nels O. & Dolly (Meeks) Apland, he received his education in Worland, he then enlisted into the Army in late 1945 at Fort Logan, his basic training was at Aberdeen proving ground, in Maryland. His jobs in the military included, truck driving carpenter work and he was head of the company supply. His rank was PFC 1st class. He learned many skills in the Army running heavy equipment and doing repairs.

In 1948, Ed worked on the auditorium at the middle school. He worked on a seismograph crew, and in 1950 went to work for McClellan & MacQueen and worked as a foreman for the next 22 years. He also worked for McGarvin & Moberly for one year. In 1970 he went to work with the Washakie County Road and Bridge Department as a superintendent. Ed retired in 1993. He was married to Patricia A. Doig the love of his life on July 2, 1954 in Townsend, MT.

Throughout Ed's life even to a point of becoming severely handicapped with a respiratory disease he was an avid recreationalist. Ed enjoyed snowmobile and horse back riding, boating and motorcycling, hunting, fishing, traveling & touring, bowling with friends and yard & home improvement projects. He loved holidays, spending time with family and always had a compliment for someone.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, father- in-law Varick Doig, uncle, Edward O. Apland, brother Eldred (Eddie) Apland, sister; Donna Gureski, Uncle Gurt O. Apland, Aunt Bertha Apland, siblings, Alvin & Leo Apland, Dora May Dellos, his children Connie Belcoe and Terry D. Apland.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Scott (Jan), Rick (Cheryl) and Ryan Apland, sisters; Margaret (Bill) Ramage and Verrie (George) Blooquist of Lysite, WY, Maryann (Paul) Donahoo of Gillette, mother-in-law Blanche Doig, brother-in-law John Doig of Helena, MT. Marvin Doig of Pensacola, FL, Larry Gueski of Cody, WY his grandchildren Varick, Nathan and Ashley Apland, Andrea & Joel Apland, Dennis and Duane Belcoe and numerous nieces and nephews and Terry's companion Donna Blake.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church in Worland with Pastor L. E. Bud Surles officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts, troop 45 in care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401.
