Obituary
Eileen "Boots" Marie Snyder
June 22, 1929 – May 16, 2025
Eileen "Boots" Marie Snyder, 95, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Boots was born on June 22, 1929, in Greybull, Wyoming, to Arthur Vern and Catherine Elizabeth (Schneider) Patterson. As a toddler, she moved with her family to Grass Creek, Wyoming, and spent the next 18 years traveling throughout Northern Wyoming, following her father's work with Marathon Oil.
After graduating from Deaver High School in 1947, she began working as a bank teller at Stockgrowers State Bank in Worland. It was there that she met John "Bill" William Snyder. Bill worked for the family business, Fairview Dairy and made a habit of dropping off the deposits just so he could see—and flirt with—the beautiful brown-eyed teller. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage on April 8, 1951. Together they raised two children, Cindy Lea and John William Jr., and shared nearly 60 wonderful years before Bill's passing in 2011.
Boots was a romantic at heart. During her time working at the Washakie County Clerk's office, she quietly paid for countless marriage licenses for young couples, including her children and grandchildren.
A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Boots was active in the Methodist Church, singing in the choir and participating in the Methodist Women's Group. Later after Bill's passing, she faithfully attended Zion Church with her family. Being a member of Eastern Star, a past worthy matron, and a guardian of Job's Daughters was very rewarding for her. She was also involved with Republican Women, and even organized festive holiday house tours in the community.
Boots was a social butterfly! She enjoyed attending the Washakie County Fair and cheered on her grandkids in their 4-H projects and scooped ice-cream as a Today's Homemakers member. She even took home top honors at the Washakie County Fair's Rhubarb Revival—later returning as a proud judge of the event. She had many fun times laughing and visiting with her friends in their "Birthday Club".
One of her proudest moments came in 2012 when she was honored as "Wyoming's Greatest High School Football Fan." Boots never missed a game when her children or grandchildren were playing. Rain or shine, you could count on her to be in the stands, cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm.
Her happiest place on earth was the Snyder family cabin, where she spent cherished time with Bill and her loved ones. She also loved traveling with her husband for work, and never passed up a chance to stop at Wilcoxson's Ice Cream in Billings, Montana—often returning home with gallons of ice cream, Fudgesicles, and other frozen treats. Every night, right up to her final days, Boots enjoyed her tradition of sipping an ice-cold Pepsi before bed.
Boots loved deeply and wholeheartedly. Her faith in God was unwavering, and her bond with her grandsons was sacred. She was such a positive and generous person, and had the rare ability to make everyone feel heard, valued, and special. She loved to be teased!
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bill; her daughter, Cindy Lea Jorgensen; her brother, Arthur "Bud" (Lillian) Patterson; her sister, Helen "Hanna" and brother-in-law, Harold Lockard, brother-in-law, Clifford "Bud" Snyder and sister-in-law, JoAnne "Nanny" Coe.
Boots is survived by her son, John (Janet) Snyder of Worland, Wyoming; son-in-law, Walter "Wally" Jorgensen of Worland; brother, James "Skip" (Gay) Patterson of Medford, Oregon; brothers-in-law, Harold Coe of Worland, Lloyd (Peggy) Snyder of Powell, Wyoming and sister-in-law, Marcia Snyder of Plano, Texas; grandchildren: Travis (Jen) Jorgensen of Chugwater, Wyoming; Jason (Kaylan) Snyder of Lewisville, Texas; Kyle (Codi) Jorgensen of Lander, Wyoming; and Steven (Jamie) Snyder of Worland. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Gavin, Abigail, Eliza, Bridger, Sophia, Hadley, Catherine, Conlee and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Zion Church, with Dr. Jason Snyder and Rev. James Byers officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Church or Shriners Children's Hospital. Please send contributions to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
