Obituary

Elaine Ingrid Martenson Decker

January 7, 1935- November 29, 2025

Elaine Ingrid Martenson Decker passed peacefully at her home in Worland, Wyoming on November 29, 2025. She was 90 years young. Elaine was a life-long resident of Worland, born to Marten and Marie (Maryland) Martenson on January 7, 1935. In 1952 she married LeRoy (Roy) Decker, and they had four sons, Dan, Mark, Lee and Mike. After she and Roy divorced, she went on to be a successful business owner of Designs by Elaine working out of her home. When the business outgrew her home she moved to Main Street and opened Decker's providing interior design, carpeting and custom drapes for many homes in and around Worland and surrounding area until she retired.

She was an avid quilter and reader, and it was rare to see her without a quilting project on her lap unless she was reading a book, newspaper, or magazine. She quilted weekly in Ten Sleep for years with like-minded quilters, each year working on different projects. She was active in the community, including being a long-time member of the Worland Rotary Club.

Flowers and her garden brought her great delight as evidenced by the beautiful flowers in her front yard every year. She loved fruit trees and tomato plants and was always trying to get someone to can tomatoes or make applesauce with her homegrown harvest.

Elaine had an open door and an open cookie jar. You couldn't get through the door without passing the cookie jar and it was always full of cookies made with love. Christmas was an annual treat with special Christmas cookies in great quantities and variety shared with family and friends alike.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her sons were her pride and joy, Dan (Anita), Mark (Linda), Lee, and Mike (Cody). Elaine had 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Shirley Knight (CA) and Louise Gilman (FL).

She was Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, a friend, an accomplished woman. She will be missed within her family and by her many friends and neighbors in the Big Horn Basin.
