Elmer Dale Wheeler

Elmer D. Wheeler 57, resident of Worland died in Cody at West Park Hospital on December 18, 2000.

Elmer was born on August 21, 1943 in Michael, Illinois son of Forrest & Margaret (Keller) Wheeler. He attended school in Powell, Wyoming graduating from Powell Sr. High in 1960.

Elmer enlisted in the US Navy on September 9, 1960 where he served on an aircraft carrier until his discharge in April 1962. He married Carolyn Weber on February 5, 1968 in Billings, Montana. For the next several years they made their home in Powell and then in Riverton. The family moved to Worland in 1994.

Elmer raised quarter horses for many years; he loved the outdoors, spending time in the mountains, hunting and fishing. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Worland, parents: Forrest (Bud) and Marge Wheeler of Powell, sons, Troy Wheeler of California, Steven Wheeler of Cody, Wyoming, two daughters Cassandra & (Duey) Chambers of Glendive, Montana, Jennifer Wheeler of Worland, one brother Dan & (Sherry) Wheeler of Thermopolis, two sisters, Peggy & Philip Schneider of Thermopolis and Brenda (Wayne) Wassink of Powell, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Trippel officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.
