Eugene Troy Rogers

Eugene (Gene) T. Rogers 66, year old Worland resident died on April 17, 2005 at West Park Hospital in Cody.

Gene was born on December 3, 1938 to Omer and Virginia (Owens) Rogers, in Lusk, WY, three minutes after his twin brother Cliff. The family moved to Casper, WY when the twins were four years old. Gene received his education while in Casper, graduated from Natrona County High School in 1958. He was drafted into the army where he served two years at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Following his military service he returned to Casper and went to work in the Oil Fields.

He met Dee Tolman and they were married in Jackson, WY on Aug 25, 1965. The couple made their first home in Casper where their first child, Jeff, was born. Gene continued to work in the Oil Fields as a salesman.

In 1970 the family moved to Worland. Gene went to work for Smith Tool where he continued as a tool distributor for the Big Horn Basin. For a short time, Gene worked for various oil companies which took him to Billings and Gillette. He returned to Worland in 1986. He was working for Triple L Inc. of Lander, WY at the time of his death.

Gene enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, golfing, spending time at the mountain cabin. He greatly enjoyed his Grandson’s; he playfully named them “little doogers”. He enjoyed rodeo and collecting antiques. He was a life-time member of the Elks, and for the past 18 years has assisted Lofink Auction services. Gene received the Meritorious Service Award of South Big Horn Basin American Petroleum Institute of Exploration and Production.

Gene was preceded in death by his father-in-law Frank Tolman.

He is survived by his wife, Dee of 39 years, one son, Jeff (Shari) Rogers of Worland, one daughter, Dani (Dan) Rice of Ten Sleep; by his parents Omer & Virginia Rogers of Casper, two brothers: Cliff (Shirley) Rogers and Neil Rogers, both of Casper; four Grandsons: Keller and Dawson Rogers; Corey and Brian Rice and by numerous nieces and nephews.
