Felix Filoteo Salinas

Funeral services for Felix Filoteo Salinas, 76 year old, Worland resident, died on December 21, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana with his loving family at his side.

Felix was born March 31, 1931 to Leopoldo Salinas Sr. and Julia Filoteo Salinas in Elsa, Texas.

He attended Catholic School in Weslaco, Texas. He later moved to Fort Lupton Colorado where he enlisted in the Navy in 1954. He was stationed at various ports. His favorite was Australia. He served on the Harry E. Hubbard Destroyer.

On May 22, 1963 he married Elaine Thunderbull in Edinburg, TX.

In 1964, his first son Terrence was born and in 1966 Robert was born. In 1967 he moved to Worland, WY, where his two daughters were born, Sheryl in 1971 and Shelley in 1972.

He worked with area farmers before becoming employed with the Worland Police Department. He later went to work for the U. S. Forest Service, building trails of which one is named after him in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming above Deer Haven Lodge.

After retirement he enjoyed working on cars driving beet trucks for Bill Haun Farms.

He worked hard at whatever he did. He was well respected by all who knew him, even at the jailhouse.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family meant the world to him.

His hobbies were cars, garage sales enjoying life and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelley and brother, Benito.

Felix is survived by his wife Elaine, sons: Terrence Salinas of Billings, MT, Robert Salinas (Lynn Murdoch) of Worland; daughter: Sheryl (Troy Garcia) Salinas of Worland; brothers: Leopoldo (Rosa) Salinas, Wincelato (Hilda) Salinas both of Weslaco, TX, Vicente Salinas of Orange Cove, CA; Sister: Fivelfa Menchaca of Orange Cove, CA; 11 grandchildren and 2 Great-granddaughters.
