Worland, Wyoming

Flora “Flo” Nell Wilson, 81 year old Worland resident passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Flo was born on April 17, 1929 in Ranger, Texas to Ernest and Alma (Kim) Keown, the younger of two children. She grew up in Gordon, Texas, graduating from the Gordon High School. She attended college in Stephenville, Texas before transferring to the University of Texas where she attended for one year.

On December 25, 1951 she married Leonard F. Wilson in Gordon. The couple lived in Ulysses, Kansas until 1954 when they came west to Glendive, Montana. They lived in Cut Bank, Montana for a short time before returning to Glendive again. In 1968 the family moved to Worland where they lived for many years. Because of Leonard’s work, they went back to Kansas for a while, but because Worland had been their favorite place to live, they returned here upon retirement and have remained here ever since.

Flo was a member of the Worland United Methodist Church and also the Daughters of the Nile. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to many Bridge clubs over the years. She was quite competitive in many board games as well as cards. In her younger years she was a pitcher for her softball team. She was also a faithful sports fan, her main teams being her alma mater, the University of Texas, the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite hobbies included playing golf and collecting coins. For many years Flora was a substitute teacher in the Worland Elementary Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ernest Ray Keown.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard of Worland and son Kim (Ellen) Wilson of Green River, Wyoming; grandchildren: Mark Wilson of Denver, Colorado and Rebecca (Jason) Deboodt of Fort Collins, Colorado
