Frank Albert Reid

Frank Albert Reid, 78 year old Worland resident died at his home on November 16, 2008 of natural causes.

Frank was born on May 23, 1930 in Alliance, Nebraska to Frank Emery and Hazel Lena (McCollister) Reid. The family lived in Berea, Nebraska until Frank was 13, they then moved to Seattle, Washington where he graduated from West Seattle High School in 1947. He then attended the Seattle Pacific College for one semester. He joined the United States Army serving his country in the Korean Conflict from April 28, 1948 until his honorable discharge in April of 1952.

Upon his return to the states, he moved to Chadron, Nebraska where he attended Chadron State College, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

He married Kathryn Randall on August 21, 1955 in Chadron. He taught for one half year in Gurley, Nebraska before moving to Wolf Point, Montana where he taught English for 8 years. In 1969, the family relocated in Worland where he began teaching at the Worland Middle School, later moving to the Worland High School until his retirement in 1989.

He worked campaign at Holly Sugar for 8 years and during the summer worked as a roofer with Vannoy Roofing.

Frank was a cancer survivor of four years. He was an avid fly fisherman, sharing the bounty with friends. He also enjoyed spending time working with wood. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Cloud Peak #27 where he served as a Past Master. He was also a member of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Frank is survived by his wife, Kathryn; son, Michael of Spanaway, Washington; daughters: Claudia Reid of San Francisco, CA, Susan (Rod) Freier of Worland, Sharon Bower of Spanaway, Washington, and Carrie Finch of Galvia, Washington; one sister, Marcia Affleck of Salem, Oregon, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.
