F. Carl “C.W.” West passed away on May 11, 2010 at the Washakie Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 28, 1936 in Doniphan, Missouri to Delmar Otto and Lola Price (Tharp) West. He attended school in Strafford and Springfield, MO. He served in the military from 1954 to 1956, during the Korean Conflict.

He worked on an off-shore oil rig in the Gulf and later as a truck driver before coming to Wyoming 18 years ago. Since moving to Wyoming, he has been employed as a mechanic for McGarvin-Moberly Construction Company.

He married Marcia Craft on January 19, 2002 in Basin, Wyoming. To this union was born a daughter, KaLena Jo. The couple later divorced.

Carl was a quiet person and kept to himself most of the time. Some of his hobbies included fixing up old cars, camping, motorcycle riding and spending time with his daughter, KaLena. She remembers her dad talking often about raising and breaking Morgan horses with his father. He continued that tradition of breaking horses here as well and teaching his daughter the basics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Judy, infant brother Jimmy, and brother-in-law H. Wayne Owens.

He is survived by a daughters, Carla (Billy) Peck of Fair Grove, Missouri; KaLena West of Worland; son Jonnie West and fiancé Angela Young, Springfield of Missouri; grandchildren: Nicole (Ryan) Greeson of Ozark, Missouri, Trey (Allison) Peck of St. Augustine, Florida and Ashton Peck of Fair Grove, Missouri; great grandchildren Meghan and Macy Greeson of Ozark, Missouri; sisters: Dorothy Owens of Springfield, Missouri and Ann ( Joe) Larkin and husband of Forsyth, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kent Dempsey officiating. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 44. A graveside committal service will take place at 2:00 pm at Basin’s Mount View Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent in C.W.’s name for an education fund for KaLena to Bryant Funeral Home, PO ox 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
