Gary Lynn Young, 78, of Worland, Wyoming, passed away on September 21, 2024, after a brave fight against esophageal cancer.

Born on January 12, 1946, in Fredericktown, Missouri, to Willis Roy Young and Allura Leona (Holmes) Young, Gary grew up on the family farm, and attended a one room schoolhouse.

After graduating high school, he moved to Riverton, Wyoming to be near his sister, it was there that he met Nancy K-Weaver. Their journey took them to Casper, then Louisiana, where Gary mastered the art of auto body repair from his brother, Marvin. He was drafted by the National Guard. Eventually his heart led him back to Wyoming, working for the Ford dealership in Worland, creating lifelong relationships. To this union they welcomed three children, Sheryl, Timothy and Alice. Later in life, Gary met his soulmate, Cheryl Ann Soller. They were married in 1990 and were inseparable until he lost his battle to cancer.

Gary was a true outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting, fishing and later photography. Gary was a legendary marksman. He was known most recently for being the "Pickle Guy". Canning pickles, garlic, asparagus, and the famous Cowboy Candy."

Gary was a man of few words, while he didn't always express it clearly, his love for his family was profound. He adored all of his fur babies, over the years there were many.

Gary cherished his community and was active in many organizations. He held every office at the Elks Lodge, was a member of the American Legion and held leadership roles at the Eagles. While he loved the comforts of home, he also enjoyed traveling just to see family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Young; sister, Marleen Dewey and son, Thomas John Young.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; daughters, Sheryl (Andrew) Saverese of Oley, PA and Alice (Sean) Duffy of Worland; sons, Matthew Soller of Worland and Timothy (Tami) Young; grandchildren: Geoffrey, Eric, Makinda, Dawson, Raychel, Christian, Alec, Karsten, Jillian, Briseis, Zaili and Jada; great-grandchildren, Tobias and Jullian.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 2-4 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Washakie County Hospital Memorial Foundation Cancer Fund. Please send checks to PO Box 524 Worland, Wyoming 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
