Gregorio Alcaraz, Sr.

Gregorio Alcaraz, Sr. 60 year old Worland resident died on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Gregorio was born March 12, 1946 in Monterrey, Nuevo Léon, Mexico to Faustino and Natalia Gaytan (Maldanado) Alcaraz.
He spent most of his childhood years in Reynosa Tamps, Mexico. He built his family home there at the age of 10. His mother lived in that house until the time of her death. He only spent a few months in school, but became a hard worker and a well distinguished mason. He moved to the US in 1968. The following year he began working for Roy Decker doing construction. He also worked campaigns for Holly Sugar from 1969 to 1973. On February 19th, 1970 he married Maria Mendoza in Worland. In 1972, Gregorio went to work for E.F. Curtis as a mason. He kept his mind and hands continuously busy with his passion for his job of laying brick side by side with his loving friends and employers, Walt and Kim Smith for 29 years. He loved his job and took pride in every brick he laid.
He was a member of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. His favorite hobby was fishing and being accompanied on fishing adventures with his children, especially to Ten Sleep Creek and the Fish Hatchery. He enjoyed Spanish music, joking and visiting with family and friends. "Goyo" will be greatly missed by his loved ones, family and friends. Papa will especially be missed by his grandchildren and will remain in their hearts forever.
Gregorio had his love for his home land, Mexico; however with most of his life spent in the United States, he proudly became a United States citizen on April 7th 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws: Silverio and Gloria Mendoza, two infant sisters, sister-in-law Grace Alcaraz, one nephew, and three nieces.
Gregorio is survived by his wife, Maria of the family home, their three sons: Gregorio, Jr. (LeeAnn) of Worland, Vicente of Lander, WY and Enrique of Fort Collins, CO; daughters: Tami (Chuck) Reed of Kingman, Arizona, Sandra Alcaraz of Worland (Juan Pablo Garay, of Casper) Brothers: Frank (Concepción)Alcaraz, Agustin Alcaraz, Pascual (Loretta) Alcaraz all of Worland, Alejo (Antonia) Alcaraz of México, Lauro Alcaraz, of Lander, WY, Toribio Suniga of Colorado, Felipe Suniga, Juan (Guadalupe) Alcaraz, Rodrigo (Maria Rosa) Alcaraz all of Texas, Rafael (Lily) Alcaraz, Félix (Eva) Alcaraz, both of California, José Luis (Consuelo) Alcaraz, Mexicali, BC; Sisters: Emelia Echavarria, Nicolasa Alcaraz, Alicia (Francisco) Phalafox all of California, Maria (Artemio) Juárez, of Texas, Rosa Maria (Samuel) Arellano, of Nevada, Nieves (Roberto) Delgado, Sebera (Javier) Acosta, Isabel Alcaraz, all of Mexicali, BC, of California, and seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006, at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Jim Heiser officiating. A Prayer Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at the church. Burial will follow the Mass at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Inc.) in care of Bryant Funeral Home, PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
