Harry "Bill" William Roessing, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 18, 2026, at Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Worland. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Checks may be sent to PO Box 524, Worland, Wyoming, 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com
Bill was born on September 3, 1933, in Staples, Texas, to Hilmer Louis and Elsie Caroline (Vorheier) Roessing. He lived and was educated in and around San Marcos, Texas, where he learned the foundational value of hard work at an early age, and he would carry this quality throughout his entire life.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy in 1952 serving 4 years aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Shangri-La.. Following his discharge in 1956, he moved to Casper, Wyoming and then moved to Worland, Wyoming in 1959 working in the oilfields well servicing. He worked for Boyd Well Service and Corbin Well Service until 1992. There, he worked alongside his brothers Rusty, Frog and Stanley in the oil fields, building not only a career but a life rooted in determination and resilience.
Bill was blessed with two children, William and Starlet, from his marriage to Medora Robinson. Though their marriage later ended, family remained at the center of Bill's life. In 1968, he married Edith Hackney. Edith brought two children, Bart and Brenda, with her into their marriage. Bill lovingly raised them as his own children, for him they were his family.
He spent many years working in the oil fields until their closure, after which he continued his strong work ethic by joining Simplot Soil Builders retiring in 1998 and part time for UAP and Terralogics, as well as, driving sugar beet trucks for local farms well into his 80's. When Edith needed him most, Bill stepped into the role of full-time caregiver, tending to her with the same quiet strength and devotion that defined his life.
Bill found joy and meaning in simple things of life. He loved feeding the birds and watching them gather, he cherished his dogs, and he enjoyed playing pinochle and other card games with friends. He enjoyed cooking and baking (he was known for his delicious cookies) and working in his yard. He especially treasured time spent with family and traveling with Edith to visit loved ones and dear friends. Bill had a unique way to show his affection for others by picking on them. If Bill picked on you it was his way of drawing you close himself and into his circle of friends.
Most importantly, Bill was a man of deep faith. He was a devoted Christian who loved his church, Grace Lutheran Church. He was often a quiet man, but his silence spoke volumes. Within that quietness was strength, integrity, and a steady presence that those around him came to rely on.
Bill will be remembered as a hardworking, honorable, and kind man who always provided for his family. He was a true family man, whose love was shown not just in words, but in a lifetime of actions.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; daughter, Brenda Zastrow; sister, Patricia Sheldon; brothers, Hilmer "Rusty" Roessing, Stanley Roessing, Gene "Frog" Roessing, and Charlie "Butch" Roessing.
He is survived by sons, William "Bill" Roessing, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Bart Bullinger of Powell, Wyoming; daughters, Starlet (John) Stone of Flemming, Colorado, Judy Gillett of Powell, Wyoming; sisters Corine Wilbughby, of Jacksonville, Florida, Betty Aksamit of Casper, Wyoming; special nephew, Marty Roessing along with many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Scotty (Malory) Roessing, Gary Stone, Shamra (Marcus) Ortega, Jeffrey Zastrow, Amber Roessing, Adam Bullinger, Caleb Bullinger, Jordan Bullinger, Kayla Medvigy, Randy Bullinger, Kurt (Alex) Bullinger, and Mark (Loretto) Bullinger; and seventeen great grandchildren.
