Harry Earl LaMar
February 26, 1940- January 13, 2023
Harry Earl LaMar, 82, passed away peacefully at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on January 13, 2023.
Harry was born in Fort Townsend, Washington on February 26, 1940 to Harry Ishmael and Ella Alberta (Crapo) LaMar. He was the oldest of two children.
Harry enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1962, serving his country for four years before being honorably discharged. During his service he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Air and Space Longevity Service Award. While in the service, Harry met the love of his life, Sharron Smith. A few months later, he asked for her hand in marriage. The couple was wed on July 23, 1965. This union brought two children, Gregory and Patricia. Following his military career, he went to work as an Air Traffic Control Officer for the Worland Municipal Airport from 1968 until 1990, when he retired. A short time later, Harry felt the need to fill his time with meaningful work, so he applied to become a bus driver for the Washakie County School District #1. Working for them until 2012, he especially enjoyed driving the Special Olympians to their events and created a special bond with each athlete. They always brought a smile to his face. After Sharon passed away, Harry took a special interest in helping his neighbors. You could find him shoveling their walks, raking leaves, stopping by to see if they needed food or just a listening ear.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharron LaMar and brother, Merlin LaMar.
Survivors include his son, Gregory Michael Jones; daughter, Patricia Ann Merchant and a daughter-by-choice, Tami (Douglas) Richards; grandchildren: Crystal Robinson (Braiden), Jaylean Aagard, Daniel Aagard, Shemai (Cody) Christensen, Alexia (William) Lechner, Brittani Aagard, Thor Aagard, Cianna Aagard and several great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and as per Harry's wishes, no formal services will take place. He will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in the Highland Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
