Holly Renee Getzfreid, 53, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Billings, Montana, after suffering a heart attack just a few days earlier.
She was born on May 8, 1973, in Worland, Wyoming, to Elaine Newton. After Elaine’s passing, Holly’s grandparents, Woodrow and Bertha Newton, adopted Holly and raised her as their own.
Holly grew up with a love for horses spending many hours brushing and riding them. She also spent much of her free time with her nieces, nephews and cousins. They weren’t just extended family to Holly; she loved them like brothers and sisters, and those relationships remained important to her throughout her life.
Holly was blessed with her son, Vincent, in the early 1990s. In 2004, she married Richard Alonzo. Through their marriage, Holly gained a daughter and best friend, Oaklee. Although Holly and Richard later divorced, they remained friends until the very end.
In 2017, Holly married Frank Getzfreid, and the two shared the last nine years together.
If there was something going on in the community, there was a pretty good chance Holly was involved in it. She threw herself into EVERYTHING—fundraisers, raffles, Hometown Heroes, the Worland Volunteer Fire Department, Tenacious Dames, Wyo Pit Bull Rescue, the Road Dogs Annual Toy Run in Billings, Christmas baskets and more. Holly helped a lot of people, often without expecting anything in return.
She had a huge heart for kids and animals. She was a mom to many and a voice for those who needed one. If Holly was your friend, you never had to wonder if she would show up when you needed her. She would.
To fund her charitable habits, Holly worked for Newton Water Well Drilling, Wyoming Sugar and Crown Cork & Seal.
Holly was passionate, bold and fearless. She stood up for what she believed was right, no matter the cost, and if someone needed an advocate, Holly made sure they had one.
When she wasn’t working, helping someone or volunteering for something, there was a good chance you could find Holly on her Harley, riding with the Tenacious Dames. Riding was one of her greatest passions and brought her some of her happiest times.
Holly was preceded in death by her parents; adopted parents, Woodrow and Bertha Newton; brother, David Newton; and sisters, Nona Speakerworth and Mary Ann Shearer.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Oaklee Alonzo of Worland and her father, Richard Alonzo; son, Vincent Knight; brothers, Charles (Sherry) Newton and Albert (Jo) Newton, both of Worland; sisters, Zula Chrichton of Basin, Shirley Kebler of Wheatland, Carol (Mike) Krcil of Worland, Ialene (Alan) Dangel of Worland and Audrey Dooley of Worland; mother-in-law, Cathie Presley (KC Conner); sister-in-law, Crystal Getzfreid of Worland; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Jamie) Getzfreid and Andy (Catherine) Getzfreid, both of Worland; and the many cousins, nieces and nephews she loved without measure.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Worland Middle School Auditorium with Pastor Chuck Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations to assist the family with funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated and may be mailed to P.O. Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
