Long time Worland resident and former Gaylord resident, Howard Showalter Walsh, Sr., 82, passed away on February 21, 2011 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland.

Howard was born on March 8, 1928, in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, a son of Vernon T. and Margaret V. (Showalter) Walsh. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Military for 4 years, 39 months of which he was stationed in Germany. He was married on December 3, 1955 to Shirley Ann Gatewood in Monroeville, PA.

Over the years Howard’s many and varied interests included hunting, fishing, camping, training and showing reining horses, bull riding, baseball and playing cards.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Nicely of Monroeville, PA, brothers Richard of Uniontown, PA, and Vernon, Jr. of Oakdale, CA.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley of Worland, devoted sons, Howard Jr. (Ann) of Laurel, MT and Tom (Pam) of Worland; grandchildren: Nicholas Howard Walsh, Derik Whitson, Vanessa Young; great grandchildren, Dawson & Makinda Young; nieces: Holly, Donna and Linda of Modesto, CA.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Howard’s name to the New Hope Humane Society in care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401. Bryant Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
