Hugh A. Willard Jr., 75, of Worland Wyoming died at Worland Health Care & Rehabilitation Center March 9, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Worland United Methodist Church with Reverend Chuck Cooper officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church in care of Bryant Funeral Home, PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
Hugh was born in Ashland, Kansas son of Hugh Adam & Hazel Esther (Mull) Willard on August 19, 1927. At the age of 9 the family moved to Wyoming living in Gillette, Basin, and finally settling in Worland. Hugh received his education in Worland and graduated in 1946 from Washakie County High School. He was married to Eula Jene Evans on November 19, 1946 and they made their home in the Worland area. Hugh worked with his father on the family farm until 1967. He then spent the next several years working in construction, first for McCormac Redi-Mix then Gilpatrick Construction and finally for Dale Weaver Construction. In the mid 1970’s Hugh began working as the bus barn supervisor for the Washakie County School District. He retired in 1989. After his retirement, Hugh and Eula Jene moved to Meadowlark Lake helping to re-open the lodge.
Hugh spent many hours helping his children train their horses and traveling with them for appearances in horse shows and rodeos throughout the state. He was a 4-H leader teaching leather tooling. He enjoyed square dancing, playing pinochle and in his later years, making redwood signs and novelty wood crafts.
He was a member of the Elks and United Methodist Church in Worland. He is a past president of, the local Good-Sam Club and held the position of Wagon Master at the state level.
He is survived by his wife Eula Jene Willard of Worland, one son Alvin (Carla) Willard of Kennett Square, PA, two daughters Helen (Ron) Warpness of Riverton, Valeta (Danny) McClain of Henrietta, TX, his grandchildren Amy (Ed) Borrelli, Adam Willard, Heather (Kevin) Brown, Wendy (Jason) Gebhart, Keith (Nancy) McClain, Kelly (Patricia) McClain, Kasey (Whitney) McClain and 8 Great Grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
