Jacob "Jack" Strauch
April 24, 1947- December 12, 2025
Jacob "Jack" Strauch, 78, passed away at his home on December 12, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on April 24, 1947, to Harry and Leila Elizabeth (Propp) Strauch in Eaton, Colorado. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Worland, Wyoming, where Jack would spend the rest of his life. Jack was the fourth of eight children. He worked alongside his dad on the family farm from an early age. He was active in 4-H and FFA. He liked to tell his children how he rode ice chunks down the river as a kid.
Jack graduated from Worland High School in 1965. He attended mechanical trade school for a few months and decided it was not for him. He returned to Worland and began working for Ed Michel on his farm. It was there that he met his future wife, Judy. After four years of dating they were married on July 11, 1970.
By this time Jack was working on the Jim Michel farm. Shortly after they were married, Jacks father passed away. Jack did his best to help out his mom and his younger siblings. Together Jack and Judy were blessed with three children: Tammy, Janet, and Jake. Jack was a hard worker and passed that work ethic on to his own children and his brother Bill. He enjoyed helping his children with their 4-H projects and taught them how to drive stick shift in an old Willy's Jeep.
Jack could often be found cracking jokes, playing cards with family and friends, or tinkering in his shop—especially if too many family members showed up at the house and he suddenly
needed to "check on the cat in the shop."
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother Henry Strauch; sisters, Kathy Fronk, Christine Strauch; sister-in-law, Janice Strauch; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Michel, Don Michel, Gus Kline and Tom Johnston.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; daughters, Tammy ( TJ) Overgaard of Gillette, Wyoming, and Janet (Jeff) Bates of Crowheart, Wyoming; son, Jacob "Jake" Strauch Jr. of Powell, Wyoming; brothers, Harry Lee Strauch of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Bill (Mary Grace) Strauch of Worland; sisters, Judy Kline of Cocoa, Florida, and Betsy Johnston of Worland; sisters-in-law, Nancy Myers of Stillwater, Minnesota, Carol Michel of Billings, Montana, and Del Michel of Worland, Wyoming; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kody) Marcus, Jackie Hernandez, Bryan (Jaydn) Wagner, Austin Bates, Brooklyn Bates, Kadence Overgaard, Lila Strauch, and Abby Strauch; great-grandchildren, Rylan, Ridge, Challen, Krew and Havyn; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, with Breck Buer officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
