Jason Andrew Putman, 54, passed away unexpectedly while at work in Worland, Wyoming, on August 26, 2026.
Jason was born on September 1, 1971, in Hollywood, California, to Herbert Franklin and Cheryl (Gould) Putman.
As an adult, Jason moved to Billings, Montana, with his mother, where he helped her run her dog grooming business, “Doggie Doo’s.” He met Sandy Bessasparias in 1989 and the two married in 1996. When their son, Emmitt, was young, Jason was proud to be able to stay home and care for him while Sandy worked. Although Jason and Sandy later divorced, they remained close throughout the rest of his life.
Jason worked as a security guard for several different businesses before eventually making his way to Worland, Wyoming, to be closer to friends. It was there that he met Keli Theil, and the two began a loving relationship that lasted until his final day. Jason and Keli were very different in some of the best ways. Jason had a quiet, gentle nature and a unique energy that somehow balanced Keli’s more chaotic one.
For the past four years, Jason worked seasonally for Holly Sugar. He took pride in his work and was especially proud to have recently been offered a full-time position.
Jason was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and, in his downtime, could often be found playing games on his phone. He also loved his dogs, especially Roxy, who held a special place in his heart.
More than anything, Jason will be remembered for the way he treated people. He was unfailingly kind, patient and level-headed. He was always willing to help someone else, even when he didn’t have much to give himself. Life wasn’t always easy, but Jason tried hard. He cared deeply, loved quietly and had a gentle way about him that those closest to him will miss.
Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Cheryl Putman.
He is survived by his significant other, Keli Theil of Worland; son, Emmitt Putman of Billings, Montana; first wife and longtime friend, Sandy Bessasparias of Billings; sister, Danielle Ramos of Burbank, California; and two grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and no formal services are planned at this time.
Memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral arrangements. Checks may be made payable to Bryant Funeral Home and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, Wyoming 82401.
