Jessie (Jaye) Shepard entered into rest at the age of 80, on November 18, 2000 in Worland, Wyoming.
Jaye was born March 25, 1920 in Woodville, Oklahoma daughter of James and Etta Laird. As a young child she moved with her family to Buckeye, Arizona in 1935. She married Lee Edward Shepard on June 25, 1938 and became a permanent Arizona citizen. Jaye was a founding member of Salome, AZ, First Baptist Church, University Baptist Church, Maryvale Baptist Church and has been member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley for 14 years. Mr. Shepard died in 1991 and Jaye maintained her home until her health failed. Jaye will be long remembered by her family and friends as a hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a most remarkable sense of humor, which has stood her family in good stead for all their lives.
She will be missed greatly by all of us who loved her. She laughed often and loved much.
She is survived by daughters, Jan Shepard of Sparks, NV. & Joyce Shepard of Worland, WY, Julie (Russell) Kellogg of Tucson, AZ., sons, Larry & (Joann) Shepard of Glendale, Arizona, Tim Shepard of Peoria, Arizona, brother in law, Roy Smith of Sun City, Arizona, sister and brother in law Marie (Del) Suydam of Paso Robles, CA.
10 grandchildren and 13 great - grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Lee of 53 years, grandson Scott B. Shepard, and granddaughter Joylin G. Partlow, mother Ann E. Reagles, father, James C. Laird, sister and brother, Billie J. Smith, and Del Wentworth.
