John B. ”Bing” Wesnitzer, 81 year old, Worland resident, died on March 10, 2008 in Billings, Montana at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.

Bing was born on July 9, 1926 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, a son of John and Mabelle “Mowrer” Wesnitzer. The family moved to Thermopolis and then on to an oil camp north of Byron. They relocated to Basin in 1929, where he attended school. Bing felt it was an honor to serve his country in the US Army during WWII. He served with the 42nd Infantry (Rainbow Division). After the war, he returned to Basin where he worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as a project manager. He was married to Marjorie Davis in 1948 in Jackson; Wyoming to this union was born John, Robert and Joe. In the early 1960’s he received his Professional Engineer’s license, which brought him to Worland as the resident engineer. He was married to Jody Morrison on March 3, 1979 in Worland where they made their home. He retired on December 31, 1986.

Bing enjoyed woodworking, gardening, golf and traveling. Jody and Bing have enjoyed traveling around the world including Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany and Italy. He loved spending time with his family, who meant the world to him.

He participated in many clubs and organizations, including the Elks Club, American Legion, Wyoming Public Employees Association, Worland Country Club, Basin Fire Department, Wyoming Society of Professional Engineers, Wyoming State Employees Association, Wyoming Highway Department Employees Association, Lion Club, Big Horn County Search and Rescue Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bing is survived by his wife Jody of Worland; daughter Susan (Ed) Thomas of Riverton, WY; sons; John (Nancy) Wesnitzer, Sedona, AZ, Robert (Marilyn) Wesnitzer of Greeley, CO, and Joe (Karen) Wesnitzer of Colorado Springs, CO; brother; William (Dorothy) Wesnitzer of Cody, grandchildren; Justin, Mathew, Amanda, Austin, Lucas Wesnitzer, Juanita Stockwell, Gena Coggins, Alanza Cook, Stephanie Rucks, Bennie Joe Ortiz, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St Alban’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Joseph Galligan officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Foundation or the Charity of Donor’s Choice in care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401.
