Obituary
John Joe Zuniga
May 6, 1960- August 16, 2025
John Joe Zuniga, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Worland, Wyoming, on August 16, 2025.
Born May 6, 1960, in Worland to Bonifacio and Felicitas (Sosa) Zuniga, John was one of eight siblings. He grew up with a strong passion for wrestling and became not only a dedicated competitor but also a natural coach, helping mentor his younger brother David, who would go on to compete in the Olympics.
After graduating from Worland High School in 1978, John entered the workforce, gaining experience in both the lumber industry and the oil fields. He later became a father to his only son, John Joe "Jay" Zuniga Jr. Though life presented many challenges, John remained proud of his son and the family he started.
John had a creative spirit. He was a talented artist, especially gifted at drawing portraits, and had a love for music, particularly classic rock. In his downtime, he enjoyed playing darts and was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and unforgettable air guitar performances. He valued good company, good food, and a good laugh.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Felicitas.
He is survived by his son, John Joe "Jay" Zuniga Jr. of Austin, Texas; father, Bonifacio Zuniga of Worland; brothers Bonifacio (Mary) Zuniga of Laramie, Wyoming, David (Dawn) Zuniga and Pedro Zuniga, both of Minnesota; sisters Tammy (Mike) Montoya, Manuela Isbell, and Mary Zuniga, all of Worland, and Anjelica (Dana) Shumway of Colorado; and three cherished grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday August 22, 2025 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, with Father Robert Rodgers officiating.
