Joseph Edward Hunter

Joseph Edward Hunter, 65, passed away on July 19, 2026 at Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming.

He was born in Worland, Wyoming, on October 11, 1960, to Rex G. and Dona J. (Harkins) Hunter, the youngest boy of seven children. Joseph graduated from Worland High School in 1979 before continuing his education at the University of Wyoming. His family roots brought him back to Worland, where he worked for Bryant Honey before beginning a lifelong career at Crowne Cork & Seal as a printer operator mechanic.

Joe worked hard, loved deeply, and enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He was a devoted, die-hard Denver Broncos fan, coached Legion baseball, and found his happy place tending his garden or spending time on the golf course.

In 2000, he reconnected with his childhood friend, Deneen Netser, and the two quickly fell in love. Through every season of life, including his long battle with scleroderma, they stood side by side. Joe often said Deneen was his "number one," and anyone who knew them could see just how much they meant to each other.

Joe was known as the "Fun Uncle," the one every niece and nephew wanted to spend time with. Whether he was telling stories, making people laugh, or simply being present, he had a way of making those around him feel special.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tim Hunter; and his nephew, Jacob Netser.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deneen Hunter; his children, Joshua (Jennifer) Hunter of Severance, Colorado, Brad (Hailey) Hunter of Gillette, Wyoming, Zach Hunter of Wyoming, and Jerica Hunter of Amarillo, Texas; his brothers, Don (Becky) Hunter of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ted Hunter of Oklahoma, and Bob Hunter of Newcastle, Wyoming; his sisters, Laura and Susan (Scott) of Rock Springs, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Lydia, Alyssa, Rex, Roxanne, and Kolson; his mother-in-law, Pat Netser; his brothers-in-law, Nick (Robbie) Netser of Jamestown, North Dakota, and Mike (Christie) Netser of Buckeye, Arizona; his nieces, Kelly and Mikayla, his nephews, Montgomery and Cody; as well as many additional nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
