Karyne Susan Dunbar
September 22, 1945- July 2, 2024
Karyne Susan Dunbar, 78, lost her battle with cancer July 1, 2024 at her Shell Wyoming home. By her side was her life partner of 19 years James Johnson.
Karyne was born September 22, 1945 in Moline Illinois to parents Russel and Margaret Dunbar. After attending Northern Illinois University, she married Daniel Foote and had two sons, Sean and Shane. In 1981 she would make her way to Wyoming to teach public school art in Greybull. After retiring in 2013 she turned her attention to producing art works and operating her gallery called "The Art Shelter''. Karyne's artwork can be found all around the world. The piece that has been viewed the most, would also be her largest in scale. The "Cowboy and the Indian" that remain on the grain elevator buildings in Greybull. Karyne received the Wyoming Governor's Art Award in 2018. Karyne loved life and stayed young-at-heart throughout. She was easy to talk to and always pulled for the underdog.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother John.
She is survived by her two sons along with grandchildren Kegan, Megan & Logan and also her great grandchildren Emily, Reagan, Hudson and Lincoln. As per Karyne's wishes, no services are planned at this time. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
