Kathryn Jane Sanders

Kathryn J. Sanders, 85 year old former Worland resident passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at St. Vincent Healthcare Facility in Billings, Montana.

Kathryn was born on November 25, 1925 to Charles John and Pearl (Steen) Rudquist in Roundup Montana at her grandmother’s home. She received her education in Roundup and later went to Acme Beauty College in Billings, MT. She took her state boards in Butte and always kept her license up.

She married Clifford Jackson Sanders and to this union was born three girls, Ruthetta, Clarice and Jacqueline. Ruthetta passed on December 1, 1963 with sleeping sickness.

Kathryn and Jack lived many places as he worked in the oil fields. They retired in Worland, WY, where Kathryn was active in Eagles Aux 3096. She was president for two terms and held many offices. She also played darts on a league for the Eagles. Kathryn loved the Eagles conventions and was the State Singer one year. She was the State Grandmother for Auxiliary State President Lori August and also State Mother for Dave Askew, the State President at that time. Jack was the State Father that same year.

She and Jack often ate out at the local restaurants where they would visit with their many friends. When Jack had to move to Sheridan, she reluctantly left Worland and her life here, but she wanted to be near her husband. They later relocated in Billings, where Jack was placed in a healthcare facility.

Kathryn loved to listen to Lonnie Bell every Sunday. She loved to dance, but had to use a walker in her later years, which put an end to her dancing.

She also belonged to the Does Drove 93 in Worland and American Legion Post 44 in Worland and V.F.W. 5054 in Powell, WY. Kathryn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 19, 1956 in Powell. She attended the Blue Creek Ward in Billings, MT most recently.

Kathryn is survived by her daughters: Pearl (Delbert) Williams of Shepard, MT; Clarice (Terry) Hoffman; Jacqueline Niederkoffer (Jerry Cornell) all of Billings, MT; Grandchildren: Monique (Nick) Blazevic of Farmington, MN; Stephen Lozano of Greeley, CO; Great-grandchildren: Hunter and Bryce Blazavic and Elizabeth Lozano; two nephews: Joe (Joan) Swan of Butte, MT; Steve Swan) of East Helena, MT; one niece: Vickie (Dean) Patrick of Washington; and cousins: Totsie Bartow and Deb (Steve) Moser.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford Jackson in 2005; one grandson, Ronald Anderson in 2005; sisters: Ruth, Bobbie, Viola Gruell, and one brother, Edward Rudquist.
