Obituary

Kelly Dawn Garriott

September 30, 1962- January 24, 2023

Kelly Dawn Garriott, 60, passed away after a head-on collision in Cresson, Texas, on January 24, 2023.

Kelly was born in Laramie, Wyoming, to Robert Metzler and Sandra Louise (Wright) Brown on September 30, 1962. She was the only daughter, growing up with her two brothers, Mike and Greg. While attending Powell High School, Kelly met George Finley who worked for her dad, Ralph Shimon. After graduation, Kelly attended York College. Following College, Kelly moved to Casper, Wyoming where she worked various occupations, ultimately ending up in oil and gas in 1999. Kelly and George married and went on to have two children and raised them together until they separated in 1996. They continued to work together to raise their kids to the best of their ability.

Kelly was a hard worker. She enjoyed her career and the people that surrounded her. She could light up any room at any given time. Her favorite jobs were always in the field. She enjoyed putting on a pair of boots and doing an honest day's work out on the rig roads. She enjoyed talking to the men and women of the oilfield during sales calls. She appreciated the roughness of the oil and gas industry and knew it wasn't a job for everyone.

Aside from working, she was a loving mother to her two kids, Kayla Bryant and Cole Finley. She was genuinely proud of what they both had grown to become. She also adored her grandchildren, Finley, Wakeley, Axel, and Brayleigh. She continually had something nice to say about them in every conversation. Kelly loved her grandkids more than anything, always spoiling them and trying to be around them.

Kelly loved all little dogs. She loved to snuggle up on the couch after a hard day's work and enjoyed her quiet time with her animals, Bigs and Bee.

Kelly moved to Weatherford, Texas, in 2021 to be closer to her son and grandson, where she ended up passing in an unexpected tragedy. Kelly will be missed and loved by many, but she is in a better place with God. Kelly was always a passionate Christian and lived life to fulfill her duties to God.

Kelly is preceded in death by her father, Robert Metzler, and brother Mike Metzler.

She is survived by her grandfather (father) Ralph Shimon of Torrington, WY; children, Kayla (Brandon) Bryant of Worland, Wyoming, and Cole Finley (Hailey Hicks) of Weatherford, Texas; nephew, Robert Metzler, Casper WY; grandchildren: Finley, Wakely, Axel and Brayleigh and several friends who were just like family.
