Kenneth “Ken” Albert Westphal, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Worland, Wyoming on August 10, 2026.
He was born on April 1, 1969 in Sycamore, Illinois to Clarence Albert and Judith Ada (Lake) Westphal. He was the third of three children.
Ken grew up in Blanchardville, WI and graduated from Pecatonica High School. He found his way into sales and helping people through a position at Best Buy, and then expanding his knowledge and skill set in the Health Insurance industry building a successful career with Humana over several years before finally discovering his dream career with State Farm Insurance. Ken’s true passion was helping people. Helping with a general question, guiding people to assist in making decisions, letting them know he was there for them each step of the way.
Although a career brought Ken and his family to Wyoming in 2015, it was clear from the start this is where he belonged. He loved this community and the organizations he was a part of. The Rotary Club of Worland, aside from the catered lunches that had too many veggies, and the Chamber of Commerce. The only thing he loved more than helping others was being with his family. He shared a deeply loving soul connection with his wife, Lori. Few people experience the kind of love that they had for one another. He was so proud to call her his bride and would always refer to her as such, no matter how many years passed. Lori was his best friend in this world. She and their children were his greatest joy. He was very family focused and felt most at ease in a crazy loud house filled with his kids and grandkids. He loved singing in the kitchen when everyone was still sleeping, listening to Tina Turner to really get his day going, and making sure no one slept in too late because he just wanted to be able to spend more time together. Quiet moments you would find him reading an old western or historical novel, playing the same Zelda game on his Switch or having a quick nap on the couch. He loved the mountains, specifically the Big Horns and had recently started hiking so he could be in them.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Donald Westphal, Gene Westphal, Chuck Westphal and Nancy Nuyen. He is survived by his loving bride, Lori; son, Owen Westphal of Laramie, WY; daughters, Jennifer (Brandon) Ruchti of Worland, Haley Devlin of Worland and Abigail “Abby” Westphal of Ft Collins, CO; sister, Barbara (Mike) Jeglum of Mt. Horeb, WI; brothers, William (Debbie) Westphal of Monroe, WI, Clarence (Sheila) Westphal Jr of Montgomery, IL and James (Wendy) Westphal of Geneva, IL; grandchildren: Casper and Sabrina and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 21, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Worland with Bishop Josh Hansen officiating. Online condolences may be made at https://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
