Kent L. Gillette

March 29,1942 – January 9, 2026

Kent L. Gillette, 83, passed of natural causes January 9, 2026 in Billings, Montana surrounded by family. He was born on March 29, 1942 in Laramie, Wyoming, the son of Jack L. and Marjorie Pauline (Milsap) Gillette. He attended all primary schools in Laramie, where he studied football, basketball, track and field, graduating from Laramie High School in 1960. Kent went on to his first year of college at the University of Wyoming as an education major. The following year he transferred to Sioux Falls College "officially" meeting his sweetheart Sharon, and completing his degree in education. Kent and Sharon were married at the First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls on June 1, 1964. Following graduation in 1965, Kent and Sharon accepted teaching positions in Caldwell, Idaho for the next three years.

In 1968 their careers followed an opportunity for Kent to move to Worland, Wyoming, teaching Jr. High Science and as an assistant coach with the Warrior Football program, and later coached the girls basketball at WJHS.

Kent is best known for teaching until he retired in 1999. He was a faithful Christian and Deacon at First Southern Baptist Church for over 20 years.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clark R. Gillette (Debbie).

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sharon Delain (Steele) Gillette; sons Kyle L. Gillette (Gretchen) of Billings, MT; Troy Gillette (Heidi) of Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Kaitlin Gillette of Belle Fourche, SD; Tanner Gillette (Cheyenne) of Buffalo, WY; Brady Gillette of Spearfish, SD and great-grand-daughter Charlie Quinn Gillette of Buffalo, WY; Kent is also survived by his favorite sister (in-law) Charlotte Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, Connie Smith and Sarah Sattler, and nephew, Doug Smith all of Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, January 23, 2026 at CrossPoint Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Smith officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Worland Senior Center in Kent's name and mailed to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
