Obituary

Kent Melvin Hodges

May 30, 1958 – January 26, 2026

Kent Melvin Hodges, 67, passed away at the Wyoming Retirement Center on January 26, 2026.

Kent was born on May 30, 1958 in Ripon, Wisconsin, the third child born to Wesley Curtis and Donna Joan (Armstrong) Hodges. He spent his early years in Ripon, Wisconsin, Winner, South Dakota, and Sioux City, Iowa. Kent was always the inquisitive one, and even in his younger years would take apart appliances to see how they worked, and then (occasionally) put them back together. He was active in sports and excelled particularly at football in high school.

He graduated from Hinton (IA) High School in 1977, and following graduation attended the University of Wyoming where he received a bachelor's degree in communications.

He married Heidi M. Lemna in 1998, and they made their home in the Fargo, North Dakota area. To this union three sons were born, Hayden, Hudson and Kaleb. The couple later divorced. Kent loved to spend down-time with his sons, often made dates to go see the new release of movies with Hayden, or follow religiously the hockey and baseball exploits of Hudson and Kaleb.

Kent was a quiet individual who observed his surroundings and loved to learn by exploring. He spent over 30 years as a truck driver, delivering vehicles all over the central part of the U.S., and this enabled him to explore and learn lots about the areas he traversed. He was at home on the road with lots of windshield time to think and process life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Donna Hodges and his grandparents, Roy and Merle Hodges, and Melvin and Dott Armstrong.

Survivors include his three sons, Hayden of Fargo North Dakota, Hudson (fiancé Alivia Lien) of Horace, North Dakota and Kaleb (girlfriend Azylen Lunak) of West Fargo, North Dakota; brothers, Scott of Merrill, Iowa, Steve (Amy) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kurt (Trista) Hodges of Breckenridge, Minnesota; sister, Kathy Hodges of Fargo, North Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Cheyenne. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
