Lawrence Earl Marlow, 78, passed away on October 7, 2026 at Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming.
He was born on December 31, 1947 to Earl and Doris (Steidley) Marlow in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
He grew up camping in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming before joining the Navy. His Navy career took him to South Asia and Vietnam. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Larry returned to Wyoming to become an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School.
Larry was assistant leader on the American East Greenland Expedition where they traveled by kayak through the unknown fjords of east Greenland. When the pack ice locked them ashore, the members walked out carrying their boats and gear for 150 miles. At Chadron State College he studied recreation and Law Enforcement. Soon after he went to work for the United States Forest Service leading young people in fire fighting over much of the west for 15 years. Then Larry became a law enforcement officer for the Forest Service retiring to Worland, Wyoming after 17 years. As a LEO, Larry protected the Utah winter Olympics in 2002 and investigated the Texas prairies after the Columbia shuttle disintegrated.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Earl Marlow.
He is survived by his sister, Vicki Joel and close friends, Jim Halfpenny and Bert Bresach.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at the American Legion Post 44 with a military graveside following. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
