Lee Bert Snyder, 88 sadly passed away on July 14, 2026 at his home with his grandson, Brandon and his wife, Ashley by his side. Lee was born in Basin, Wyoming to Bert Elmer Snyder and Nina Louise (Mosley) Snyder. He attended school in Greybull for 11 years and graduated from Thermopolis High School in 1956. He was active in 4H livestock. He went to 4H camp and State Fair. He was a Golden Glove Boxer.
He went into the Marines in 1957 and was stationed in Twenty-nine Palms, California. He married Ramona Keeler in 1957. They were blessed with three boys, Michael Bert, Mitchell Brent and Mark Bradley. They were later divorced. When he was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1959, he returned home and worked on oil rigs and for Dresser Mineral. They lived in Shoshoni, Casper and Cody.
He went to work for the Railroad as fireman with CB&Q. In 1965 he was promoted to engineer and transferred to Greybull in 1970. He credits his good friend, Fred Jolley for getting him this job on the railroad. He retired after 40 years. He loved working with a great bunch of people.
He married Shirley Enis November 12, 1988. He welcomed her four children Gary, Debbie, Jo and Mical into his family. Lee loved being with family. He took several trips to visit his sister in Arkansas and trips to visit his brother in California. He loved hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. One of his great accomplishments was climbing Bomber Mountain and Cloud Peak with his brother-in-law.
Lee would go to the Wyoming Retirement Center every week bringing candy for the residents and all the staff. He was known as the Candyman. He also walked all over Greybull carrying dog treats and candy. He was an AA sponsor for close to 50 years, He was active in the VFW. He made sure the flag was up at Eagle Pass near Cody. He was a member of Greybull Elks. He was as active member of Grace Fellowship Church. He was a board member of Greybull Senior Center. He was very kind and generous and always there to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Bert and Nina Snyder; sister, Roberta Snyder Heaton; brother-in-law, Harvey Heaton; son, Mike Snyder; daughter, Jo Zastrow; grandson, Doug Goldsberry and granddaughter, Melissa Snyder.
He is survived by his sons, Mitch (Connie) Snyder of Laramie, Mark Snyder of Boise, Idaho, Gary (Pam) Enis of Casper, Mical (Kim) Enis of Thermopolis and daughter Debbie (James) Young of Melbourne, Arkansas; brother, Edwin (Lori) Snyder of Ramona, California and sister, Donna (John) Harrington of Worland. He is survived and loved by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 24 at 11am at the Grace Fellowship Church in Greybull with Pastor Sean Williamson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount View Cemetery in Basin, Wyoming. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
