Leona Katherine Witt

Leona K. Matheson Witt, 85 year old, Worland resident, died at Worland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center on October 31, 2006.

Leona was born on March 8, 1921 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma a daughter of Frank & Cealey (Smith) Arnce. She received her early education in Pawhuska.

Leona was married to Edward Matheson on January 25, 1937 in Osage County, Oklahoma; they made their home south of Gillette, Wyoming where they herded sheep. Ed passed away on August 5, 1965. She met Delbert Witt and they were married on January 17, 1966 in Gillette. They lived for a short time in Buffalo, Wyoming and then moved to Worland where they have resided until the time of her death. Mr. Witt died on November 28, 2003 in Worland.

Leona enjoyed playing bingo, being in the outdoors camping, fishing in the Big Horns, cooking for family and friends and she loved her poodles. The last several years she loved watching and spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.

In 2004 she suffered a stroke and has been a resident of the Worland healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

She is preceded in death by; her parents, husbands Edward Matheson, and Delbert Witt, son John Calvin Matheson, sisters and brothers, daughter in law Janet L. Matheson, 4

step-sons and 1 step-daughter.

She is survived by; sons, Edward (Geneva) Matheson of Worland, Trusty ( Marilyn) Matheson of Gillette, Einar & (Janet) Matheson of Gillette, step-son, Rocky (Tassy) Witt of Elko, Nevada, Step-daughters; Karolyn (Paul) Coleman of Ellis, Kansas, Sherry (Larry) Baker of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jeanne (John) Swindler of Pratt, Kansas, Kathy & (Tony) Magadan of Great Bend, Kansas, grandchildren, Michelle, Ronnie, Teresa, Michael, Steven Paul, Jimmy, Debra, Sheridan, Diana, 14 Step grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren.
