Linda M. Rogers

Linda M Rogers, 97, of Worland, died peacefully at the Worland Medical Center on July 15, 2010.

Linda was born on April 18, 1913 in Russell, Kansas to John Jacob Michaelis and Eva Catherine (Steinert) Michaelis. She lived on farms and attended schools in central Kansas. She worked as a retail clerk and nanny in Wakeeney, Kansas where she met her future husband, Warren (Bud) Rogers. They were married on February 11, 1940 in Ellis, Kansas. They honeymooned their way to Worland, where Bud was employed.

Linda was a homemaker and mother to two daughters for many years before working as a retail clerk in downtown Worland. She was a member of the Worland United Methodist Women, serving as president and she chaired or co-chaired the Salad Taster’s Luncheon for over 18 years. Mary and Martha Circle and Helen’s Fellowship visitations were important church activities for her. She was a member of Eastern Star and Ladies of the Nile. She also was instrumental in organizing a twice-monthly coffee club that met for many, many years.

Linda’s hobbies included her beautiful flower gardens, bridge, knitting and crocheting, and reading. After retirement she tried her hand at golf and traveled extensively with her husband. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great joy to her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include daughters Arla Kaye (Gary) Kapptie of Worland and Sandi (Tony) Olsen of Corvallis, Oregon, four grandchildren: Jeff (Tammy) Kapptie and Steve (Toni) Kapptie of Worland, Tim (Tava) Olsen of Auckland, New Zealand, Leslie Olsen of Corvallis, Oregon, 8 great grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
