Obituary
Mark Allen Cheshier
November 24, 1945 – April 30, 2026
Mark Allen Cheshier, 80, of Basin, WY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with his wife by his side.
Born on November 24, 1945, in Greybull, Wyoming, Mark married Charlotte Carol Rice on February 23, 1968, in Worland, Wyoming. The couple lived in Worland for a year before relocating to Greybull.
In 1984, Mark attended Billings Vo-Tech, earning a refrigeration certification. The following year, he and Charlotte opened Mark's Appliance Repair, serving the Big Horn Basin for four years. In 1989, they moved to Bozeman, MT, where Mark continued his service business for 18 years. In 2007, the couple returned to Basin, WY, where Mark worked part-time for local businesses until his retirement in 2023.
Mark and Charlotte dedicated their lives to the Lord and began attending Greybull Alliance Church in 1981. Though he faced many challenges throughout his life, Mark found strength and victory through his Savior. He loved the Lord, trusted Him fully, and shared his faith whenever the opportunity arose.
Those who knew Mark were familiar with his deep love for cars. The family lost track of how many cars he bought and sold over the years, and at one point, the courthouse even suggested he might need a dealer's permit. He also had a passion for music, performing at assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and as a member of the Cloud Peak Bible Church worship team until his passing.
Mark is perhaps best remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of practical jokes. There's no shortage of stories from those who experienced his pranks—whether on them or others. Above all, he adored his family, was hardworking, gentle, extremely patient, and had a special gift for rocking his grandbabies to sleep. He enjoyed camping, gardening, caring for his lawn, and relaxing on the deck with iced tea, surrounded by family and friends. You could always find him tinkering in his garage, working on a project or washing his truck.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Charlotte; their daughters Debby (Todd) Clifford and Tanya (Cory) Hodge of Basin, WY; son, Mark (Lacee) Cheshier of Harrison, MT; 11 grandchildren: Amber Christopherson, Clinton Getzfreid, Avery Clifford, Johnna Clifford, Taylor Redinger, Colton Hodge, Alyssa Hodge, Brooklyn Clay, Kaytlyn Cheshier, Bridger Cheshier, and Gavin Cheshier; and 7 great-grandchildren, along with numerous family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Cloud Peak Bible Church in Manderson, WY, with a lunch to follow the service. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
