Obituary

Mary Ann Brazell

March 27, 1942- October 5, 2025

Mary Ann Brazell, 83, of Worland, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at Washakie Medical Center.

Mary Ann was born on March 27, 1942, in Worland to Willard Wesley and Nellie (Bussard) Austin. She spent most of her life in Worland, graduating from Worland High School in 1960. She attended Casper College for two years before returning home, where she met Charles "Chuck" Brazell at the local bowling alley. Their flirtatious banter sparked a connection immediately. After dating for several years, they married on October 8, 1968. Together, they raised two children, Robert "Bob" and Nellie.

Throughout her working life, Mary Ann was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She spent many years as a meat packer at Lane's Meat, and also worked at A&W, the Northern Daily Wyoming News and Stockgrowers State Bank. A talented seamstress, she lovingly sewed clothes for her children and not one to ever waste anything, created "unique" tank tops for Chuck, which became a fun and memorable family trademark.

Mary Ann had a sharp mind and enjoyed keeping it active through puzzles and puzzle books. She was a devoted and supportive mother, always present at her children's school events and activities.

A woman of deep faith, Mary Ann was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, now CrossPoint Baptist Church, where she found strength and community throughout her life.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Squires and Alena Austin; brother, Roland Austin; and her grandson, Christian.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 57 years, Chuck; son, Robert "Bob" (Anastacia "Staci") Brazell; daughter, Nellie Brazell, all of Worland; grandchildren, Austin (Ryleigh) Brazell of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Kylie (Michael) Steig of Sidney, Montana; and great-grandchildren: Vivian and Torrin.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at CrossPoint Baptist Church, with Dr. Fred Smith officiating. A public visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025.
