Mary Jane Mitchell

June 28, 1952 – July 15, 2023

Mary Jane "Janie" Mitchell, 71, passed away on July 15, 2023 at the Worland Medical Center. Mary courageously battled back from Necrotizing Fasciitis three years ago to battling cancer the last 8 weeks of her life.

She was born on June 28, 1952 in Torrington, Wyoming to Andrew Joseph and Margaret Doris (Brewer) Johnson. She grew up the youngest of four girls and enjoyed spending time with family in her youth.

Mary met Paul Joseph Mitchell in Torrington and they were married on May 7, 1971. To this union brought five children, Kari, Melanie, Staci, Ben and April.

Paul and Mary were married for 52 years. They began their life together between Torrington and Cheyenne. They then moved to Pennsylvania for two years before moving to Worland in 1976, where they still live today. Mary began working at Holly Sugar in 1981 and worked 36 campaign seasons as an Assistant Chemist. Mary loved to go camping, traveling to North Carolina, and spending time with her husband, children and grand-children, and extended family.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather M. Doris (Jack) Loveland; father Andrew; sisters Patricia Wilson and Andrea DeBolt; daughter April Mitchell and grandson Christian Brazell.

She is survived by her loving husband Paul; daughters Kari (Robert) Lawler, Melanie (Keith) McDonald and Anastacia "Staci" (Robert) Brazell all of Worland; son Benjamin Mitchell (Jennifer Mortimore) of Gillette, Wyoming; sister Linda (Bill) Johnston; mother-in-law Addie Mitchell; grandchildren, Andraya, Victoria, and Andrew Lawler, Madison (Wyatt) Good, Austin (Ryleigh) Brazell, Kylie (Michael) Steig, Stone and Shelbea Ramos, Dominic (Trysa) Damiano, Shayden and Dawson McDonald, Lakota Wright, one great-grandchild Vivian Brazell, numerous in laws and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10 AM, Thursday July 20, 2023 at the Bryant Funeral home chapel with Pastor Troy Woolery officiating. Following the service, there will be a gathering for friends and family at the home of Keith and Melanie McDonald, 1551 Road 13. Memorial donations may be made to Bryant Funeral Home to help assist with funeral costs.
