Obituary

Matt Ackermann

December 2, 2009

Matt S. Ackermann, 25, died unexpectedly at his home in Worland on Wednesday December 2, 2009.

Matt was born on October 23, 1984 in Ten Sleep, Wyoming to Donald and Jorja (First) Ackermann.

Matt received his education in Ten Sleep and Worland as part of the class of 2003. He worked at Taco Johns and Ranchito Mexican Restaurant in high school and ventured out later on to find work in California and Bellingham, Washington where he enjoyed many of the fine arts cultural experiences, unforgettable landscape available in those locations, and the camaraderie of good friends. Returning to Worland he worked as a Beet Flumer at Wyoming Sugar Factory for the 2006-07 campaign. He returned to Ranchito Restaurant later that year, this time working as a Head Cook until the time of his death.

Matt was a natural entertainer, from magic trick shows to his endless puppet productions when he was little. As a freshman he played the part of the Mad Hatter in the Missoula Theater production of Alice in Wonderland, and memorized all the lines from entire Pixar movies like A Bugs Life just for his own entertainment. He played trombone in the Worland High School Band. Throughout the years he never gave up his passion for sketching and for playing the drums - things he self-taught and enjoyed since boyhood. He composed much of his own music. He drummed for his band call Sagarmotha starting in High School and most currently for the local band, Mountain Scum.

Matt had a wonderful sense of humor, a creative mind, and a thoughtful and kind heart. He will be missed by his family & friends. His cheerful, affectionate, and fun loving way will leave an empty place in especially the lives of his little nieces and nephews, and his beloved little dog, Molly.

He is preceded in death by his father Don, this summer and his nephew, Andrew Hazen last year.

He is survived by his mother Jorja of Worland, his brothers; Joel (Jessica), Daniel, all of Redwood Valley, California, and Alex of Worland, sisters; Heather (James) Hilmer, Sylvia (Chris) Hazen of Worland, Jill (Josh) Crimm of Lexington Park, Maryland, nieces and nephews; Shayna, Carly, Haley, Gregory Hilmer; Raistlin & Lucy Jane Crimm, Bleu Owens, Elizabeth Hazen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Worland with Bishop Bradley Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Online condolences may be made to bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
