Matthew Gordon Hoffman

Aug 19, 1996 — Aug 2, 2026

Ten Sleep, Wyoming

Matthew Gordon Raven Hoffman, 29-year-old Ten Sleep resident, passed away following a tragic accident just outside of Ten Sleep on August 2, 2026.

Matthew was born Matthew Lewis Raven Heuer in Worland, Wyoming on August 19, 1996, to Justina Yvonne Heuer and Sean Brazelton. He later changed his name to Hoffman to honor the man who became his greatest mentor, great-grandfather and best friend, Gordon Hoffman.

Matthew spent his early childhood with his mother, Justina and his sisters, Monica and Justice, in Worland. He made the decision to move out to the ranch in Ten Sleep with his grandpa, Gordon. In 2015 Matthew graduated from Ten Sleep High School with his high school sweetheart, Stephanie Redland. They married August 17, 2019, in Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Matthew proudly introduced her to anyone who hadn’t had the privilege of meeting her. She made his world complete. Together, they graduated from the University of Wyoming, he with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After a few years of living in Laramie, the couple returned to Ten Sleep to be near and assist Gordon in his final years. Those years were some of the most important years of Matthew’s life. He spent many precious moments with his grandpa, learning of Gordon’s travels and adventures. He was like a dad to his little sister, Justice, inviting her to live on the ranch in Ten Sleep. They shared a very special bond.

Matthew gained a love for travel, probably from his grandpa’s experiences. He was able to visit many countries in his short life, his favorite being Japan. He and some friends made Canada a yearly destination for their annual snowmobile rides. Any day in the snow was epic, whether on his sled or his snowboard. Matthew loved anything with a motor; dirt biking, snowmobiling and his green dune buggy. He learned to love camping from his mother and enjoyed time spent in the mountains. Fishing was a favorite pastime. Many nights after dinner, he and Stephanie would walk down to the creek to fish together, even when she was heavily pregnant with Lucas, he would hold her hands so that she could walk along the creek bed and still be able to fish.

Any skill that Matthew desired to learn, he made it his mission to master it. It showed in his prowess in bowling, playing pool or cards and throwing darts. Once he was set a goal, he fixated on it and always wanted to be the best.

Matthew and Stepanie welcomed their baby boy, Lucas on November 23, 2025. He loved his son more than anything, commenting that Lucas was his greatest accomplishment.

If there was ever a person in need of support, Matthew would be drawn to them. He had a sixth sense about people and would do his very best to help or at least make them crack a smile. If there was a loud boom or large fire anywhere in his vicinity, you could bet that Matthew was behind it. He embraced life as something large to be conquered and he accomplished quite a bit in his brief 29 years.

Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents as well as Gordon and Eva Lee Hoffman, his great-grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie and son of Ten Sleep, Lucas; father, Sean (Billie) Brazelton of Worland; mother, Justina Nelson of Billings, Montana; half-brothers: Braydon Brazelton of Missouri, Dalen (Courtney) Brazelton of Colorado, Sean Brazelton, Jr. and Aanekyn Brazelton both of Worland; half-sisters: Brooke (Tyler) Stradt of Missouri, Monica (Nate) Jacobitz of Billings, Montana, Justice Nelson of Laramie, Wyoming and Ryan Brazelton of Worland.
