Merle Lucille Seaton

Merle Lucille Seaton, 85 year old, Worland resident, died at Washakie Medical Center on January 17, 2003 after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Moon officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to any of the following charities, Worland Senior Center, Ten Sleep Senior Center, Washakie County Search & Rescue or the Washakie County Ambulance in Care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401.

She was born on November 11, 1917 in Ten Sleep, Wyoming a daughter of Gordon D. & Mabel Irene Sutherland. Merle starting working at the age of 12 at the Princess Café in Ten Sleep. She loved spending time with her family on the family ranch east of Deer Haven Lodge. She graduated from Ten Sleep High School in 1936. She was married to Les Kirkpatrick and was later divorced in 1946. Merle helped with the Red Cross making bandages while living in Laramie, Wyoming.

She was married to Vern Seaton in September of 1947 in Butte, Montana. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Worland where they made their home until their deaths.

Merle has worked at various stores in Worland in including the Wilson Drive Inn, which she managed from 1951 to 1953. She worked at the Dairy Queen, cooked at the A&W when it first opened. She made the first soft ice cream in the Big Horn Basin. For the past several years she has cleaned houses for the elderly. Since 1989 has been a Senior Companion. She loved sewing, crocheting and handiwork in general. When ever possible she had a helpful hand for neighbors and friends.

Her husband, parents, daughter Mary Ileen, sisters, Dorothy Brooks, Helen Starr, brothers Boyd Sutherland and Merlyn Sutherland, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters Vivienne & (Dallas) Talbott, of Laramie, WY., Dorothy & (Jim) Frisbee of Newcastle, CO, her grand children Jerry Talbott, Suzanne Kanaly, Rory Talbott, Roni Johnson, Stacey Sinclair, James Frisbee, Jr. Capri Frisbee, Great grandchildren Dru Burr, Wyatt Johnson, Dalton Talbott, Heather Talbott, Chase Talbott and Shelby Sinclair.
