Michael Scott Pearce

August 12, 1963 – August 8, 2025

Michael Scott Pearce, 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wright, Wyoming on August, 8, 2025.

He was born on August 12, 1963 to Raymond Chester and Mikell Vivian (Taylor) Pearce in Worland, Wyoming, the first baby born in the new hospital. He was the third and youngest of the three Pearce boys, Bobby, Rusty and Scotty. Scott was always one whose presence was apparent. From the time he was a little boy, wherever he went, there was never any question that Scott had arrived. The young Pearce family moved from Worland to the ranch in Hyattville. The family spent some time in Minatare, Nebraska and then came back to the Big Horn Basin to live in Ten Sleep. Scott was well conditioned to his mother's loud whistle. Anytime he heard that whistle he knew it was time to get home from whatever mischief he had found. It was something that Scott heard for many years, knowing it meant he needed to get home or that there was someone cheering for him at a football game or wrestling match.

The family ranched on Gooseberry when Scott was young. He was raised by a hardworking family and learned the value of hard work at a young age. That lesson carried him through his life. As a young boy, he mowed lawns all over town. He picked golf balls from the driving range for a penny a piece. Scott never stood still very long. From mutton busting to football to the wrestling mat, Scott was always involved in some kind of activity. Scott graduated from Worland High School in 1982.

In 1984 Scott met Christie Chavez. They married and embarked on a life of ups and downs, love and lessons. They welcomed a daughter, Natashua in 1987 and son, Seth in 1990. The young family made their way to Phoenix, Arizona where Scott went to school to become a diesel mechanic, a trade that he mastered. Scott worked for Interstate Diesel in Gillette and was eventually convinced to work in the coal mines outside of Wright. Scott was employed at the mines until the time of his death, having spent over thirty years twisting a wrench there.

Scott's heart was as big as his presence! He was very proud of his family, Christie, Tasha and Seth. His love for his family expanded exponentially with the addition of each grandchild. Scott's grandchildren will always remember Papa cheering (yelling) at every soccer game. That competitive spirit was also very obvious anytime Scott watched a Wyoming Cowboys or Miami Dolphin football game. He was a diehard fan.

Scott's favorite pastimes were fishing and riding his Harley. A favorite memory for him was the fishing trip to Kodiak, Alaska with his brothers, his dad and his nephews. Lots of fun was had on that trip.

Scott will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He brought happiness and positive energy everywhere he went. He was always one to tell his family he loved them.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Christie; daughter, Tasha (Victor) Nava and son, Seth both of Wright; mother, Mikell of Worland and father, Chester of Wise River, MT; brothers, Bob (Marti) of Helena, MT and Russ (Lisa) of Ryegate, MT; grandchildren: Cloey, Brisa, Dante and Aaliyah, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a friend everywhere he went.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday August 12, 2025 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
