Obituary
Paul Richard Ostrander
November 11, 1934 – February 21, 2023
The family of Paul Richard Ostrander is saddened to announce he passed away on February 21, 2023, at the
Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Worland, he was 88 years old.
Paul was born on November 11, 1934, in Portland, Oregon. He was the youngest of four children born to Raymond
and Lorraine (Chambreau) Ostrander. He grew up in Portland Oregon, graduating from Jefferson High School in
July 1952. Following High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, finishing his service at Ladd Air Force
Base's Cold Weather School as an instructor in cold weather survival and combat.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy. Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon; children: Steve
Ostrander of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brian Ostrander of Worland, Julie (Kendall) Shively of Oakville, Washington, Sheila
Parker of Florence, Oregon and Will (Jodi) Davis of Harrisburg Oregon; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren
with one more on the way (July) who will be carrying on the Ostrander name. Survivors also include his sisters,
Yvonne and Joanne (Jack).
His family will remember his beautiful smile and infectious laugh – oh God his laugh would pull you in to share
whatever joy he was marveling in at the time! He shared his love of camping, the beach and teaching pool to his
grandkids and his great grandkids. The family remembers his total lack of shame in bribing his grandchildren to get
them to try oysters! Such great memories we have and can share of him! There is also a hilarious memory of a
bouncing turkey at one of the family Thanksgiving gatherings!
Paul spent his career in the bottling industry and was lured to Worland from Eugene, Oregon (Pepsi) in 1984
continuing his long and impressive contributions to Pepsi and the bottling industry. Honestly, he didn't stand a
chance against Forrest Clay's persistent early morning phone calls convincing Paul he needed (and was needed) by
Pepsi Worland. Paul's decision to move him and Sharon to Worland proved to be one of the best in his life – both
professionally and personally. This began an incredibly special, life-long friendship with Forrest and his wife Mary,
as well as so many other wonderful people in the Worland community.
A gathering will take place at the family home, 1009 Hillcrest in Worland, starting at 4:00 PM, Friday, February 24,
2023. The American Legion Post 44 and the United States Army will do a flag presentation to honor his military service at 5:00 PM. Online
condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
